PALO ALTO, Calif., October 3, 2005 — Denali Software's chip design and verification solutions will be on display in Denali's Booth (#308) at the ARM Developers' Conference at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif., from October 4-6. Exhibit hours are Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday hours are from 10:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday exhibit hours runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Denali is a Gold Sponsor of the conference.
Denali's Chief Verification Architect Sean Smith will host a hands-on lab session entitled, "Functional Verification for AMBA 3 AXI based systems on chip (SoCs)," Wednesday, October 5, from 10:15 a.m. until noon in room 208. This session examines the design and verification of memory systems for AMBA 3 AXI-based SoCs. Topics include memory sub-system design and verification for mobile DDR, DDR2, and Flash, with a special focus on the interaction between external memory and the AMBA 3 AXI bus. The lab includes hands-on examples of functional verification, intellectual property (IP) design, and verification for other key interfaces such as Flash Cards and small form-factor hard drives, and system-level power and performance analysis.
Brian Gardner, Denali's vice president of IP products, will offer a look at, "Developing DDR and Flash Memory Systems for AMBA 3 AXI-based SoCs: Hardware, Firmware, and Driver Challenges," Thursday, October 6, from 1-1:45 p.m. in Room 207. This session covers hardware design and firmware challenges in ARM processor-based SoCs with Flash DDR memory controllers that interface with AMBA 3 AXI, and must work with a wide variety of external memory devices. It addresses challenges of designing with emerging Flash memory technologies that offer features of both NOR and NAND Flash types, and similar challenges for DDR2 and Mobile DDR memories. The concept of a hardware abstraction layer is introduced, simplifying the programming firmware and reducing driver changes from one memory type to another. Practical solutions for integrating flash and DDR controllers with a DMA engine will be offered.
