Finding the Right Hammer for the Job: How to Select the Best Storage Solution

With the growing number of storage options available today, it is difficult to determine the right solution for a particular application. WD's Gary Drossel will review the range of storage available from rotating drives to high IOPS SSDs to component-level solutions. Drossel will compare HDD, SSD and component-level storage options segmented by interface, performance metrics, duty cycle, mechanical configuration and total cost of ownership considerations. In addition, key design considerations and metrics will be provided such as projected life, cost per required GB, dollar per IOPS and IOPS per watt that drive the decision-making process.
