Optimizing Flash Storage with Linearization Software

A host software solution is described that dynamically re-maps the block layout of Flash media so that updates are always performed as long linear operations. By eliminating random write operations, this software takes full advantage of available media write bandwidth and endurance. This solution is transparent to applications and runs underneath standard file systems. Production scenarios are described ranging from terabyte enterprise arrays to SDHC cards and USB sticks.
