DDR3 DRAM Readiness?

After years of development and numerous marketing false starts, it now looks like DDR3 DRAMs are being adopted in some PCs, laptops and embedded systems. DDR3 has always been seen mostly as 'higher performance than DDR2', but given the emergence of reduced power consumption as a critical design consideration, how might that influence the choice of DDR3 vs. DDR2 DRAMs, and the rate of DDR3 adoption? This panel will explore the impediments to and enablers of widespread DDR3 acceptance in the marketplace, and the relative importance of power versus performance in existing and future DRAM applications.
