Memory System Challenges in the Multi-Core Era

With clock speeds no longer scaling at historic rates, system designers have embraced multi-core processors to continue improving performance. As multi-core processors continue to evolve, the needs of their memory systems are changing as well. Rising bandwidth demands, an increasing emphasis on power efficiency, and the growing difficulty of achieving robust system designs all present critical challenges for future memory systems. In this talk I'll discuss these challenges, as well as key technologies for addressing the needs of current and future multi-core memory systems.
