The use of NAND Flash in the form of SSDs in the PC and server markets is driving the need for higher performance and bandwidth. Toggle-mode DDR NAND uses a dual-data rate interface to increase the read performance by 125% and write performance by 50%. This new high-speed memory solution is currently being standardized by JEDEC and will be supported by major NAND suppliers in the industry. This presentation reviews what led up to the need for Toggle-mode DDR NAND, highlights key functionality, points to standardization efforts now underway and presents a roadmap for industry adoption.
